End-to-endYour records are encrypted on your device before they are sent anywhere. Only your devices can unlock them. Neither ControlDiary staff nor the company storing the encrypted data can read your journal from the stored copy. encryption
Lowest privacyIf someone steals a stored copy of your journal, they get unreadable encrypted data instead of the words you wrote. They would still need your password or access to a device where the journal is already unlocked. risks
Need a password in additionGoogle or a passkey can sign you in, but cannot unlock your encrypted records on a new device. The first time you use a new phone, tablet, computer, or cleared browser, enter your ControlDiary password once. After that, you can use the journal normally on that device. to Google or a passkey for the first login on any new device
You’re responsible for storingYou receive this code during setup. It is an emergency backup, not something you enter every day. Save it outside ControlDiary. If you forget or reset your password and no existing device still shows your records, use the code to regain access. If you lose it, though, we cannot restore your access or recover anything you wrote because we do not store the keys needed to unlock your data. the recovery code
